According to the nature of the specialty, it is divided into two specialties: Navigation Technology Specialty (ship navigation) and marine engineering specialty (Marine Engineering). (brief description refers to the two working environments on and under the deck)
If you have no experience of working on board, and have not received relevant Marine vocational education and training, you can work as a duty sailor, duty mechanic and service department.
If you want to be a sailor (Mechanic), you should first attend the competency training for the sailor (Mechanic) on duty.
The application for competency training of sailors and machinists on duty must meet the following conditions:
1. Not less than 18 years old and not more than 45 years old;
2. Junior high school education or above;
3. He has good facial features, healthy body, no infectious diseases, colorless, blind and weak color. He loves navigation and meets the physical examination standards for seafarers.
Participate in professional skills training of training institutions recognized by the state. The skill training for ordinary hydraulic workers lasts for 3-4 months, and the training for oil and chemical Machinists and sailors lasts for 4-5 months. The certificates can be found on the national network. You can only work with a qualification certificate. The certificate is a personal certificate. You should pay for the training yourself. It is the same as the driver's license.
After completing the training, passing the examination and assessment of the maritime safety administration, apply to the administrative department of the Maritime Safety Administration for handling the crew service book with the crew service book application form. If you apply for a seaman or mechanic in the unlimited navigation area, the shipping company you signed should help you to apply for a seaman's certificate. Then the company will arrange the internship on board. After the 3-month Internship (the time stipulated by the national maritime regulations) expires, the shipping company will assist you to apply for the competency certificate of seaman and mechanic in the crew management department of the maritime safety administration.
After obtaining the certificate of competency, you can formally work as a sailor and mechanic on the ship. If you want to apply to become an officer, you need to have 18 months of offshore work experience, participate in relevant professional training and obtain professional qualification certificates.
